Obituary for Alvin Chadworthy "Chad" York

Alvin Chadworthy “Chad” York was born Tuesday, June 25, 1944 in Durant, OK to James “Jim” Walter and Robbie Lo Taylor York. Chad passed from this life on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. He was baptized by Bud Amlin on March 25, 1978 and was a member of the Mead Church of Christ.

Chad graduated from Mead High School then went to work with Wilson Masonry Company in Durant, OK. Two years later he met and married the love of his life, Carolyn Blankenship. This union was blessed with two precious sons. The family lived in Silo for some years before moving to Angleton, TX where he was employed by Dow Chemical Company for 15 years. He then took early retirement from the company and moved back to Silo. He went to work with Texas Feed Fat where he worked for 10 years. He then moved his employment to Durant Iron & Metal where he finished out his working career as a truck driver.

Chad enjoyed being with his family and grandkids, telling them about some of his hunting and fishing stories. He was known to the grandkids as “Pop.” He loved to help anyone that he knew was trying to help themselves. He will be missed here in this life but was looking forward to the reunion with his wife Carolyn, son Randell, and all his brothers and sisters in Christ.

Chad was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; son, Randell Duane York; daughter in-law, Sharla Broussard; both parents; brother, James V. York; and an infant brother.

Chad is survived by his son, Cody Duane York of the home; grandson, Brandon Campbell of IL; granddaughter, Bailey York of Grand Cane, LA.; daughter-in-law, Melissa York of Grand Cane, LA.; grandson, Zachary Woods; grandson, Kegan Ashworth and Glen Rogers; granddaughter, Katie Broussard of Utopia, TX; brother, Gary York and his wife Bernice of Port Barre, LA.; sister, Aledyth Ann York Brimage and her husband, Don of Durant; sister-in-law, Alta York of Silo; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Wendell Peoples, Max Lane, Steve Phelps and Rick Phelps. Honorary pallbearers are Don Brimage, Jerry Frederick, Dale Ballard, and Bruce Frederick.

Arrangements are handled by Gordon Funeral Home. Family hour will be from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. followed by the service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 23rd. Officiant will be Roger Spears. Burial follows at Silo Restland Cemetery.
