Obituary for Ann Dorer
Ann Dorer of Mannsville, Oklahoma passed from this life on Monday, September 11, 2023 at the age of 75. She was born on Friday, July 23, 1948 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Donald Arch Bailey, Sr. and Thelma May (Pittman) Bailey.
She was a resident of the Mannsville, Oklahoma with the love of her life Jeffrey “Cotton” Layne Dorer and were together since 1979.
In her earlier years, she worked as a beautician. She also worked at Uniroyal (now known as Michelin), and at the Carter County Court Clerk office alongside her sister Donna Kay Garner, who worked there at the same time. Later she worked at V&H Paint and Supply in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
In the early 90s, she enjoyed working at the drag races and loved to ride Harley Davidson motorcycles. She collected frogs and had many in her yard décor. She loved to dumpster dive, saying “it’s trash to treasure”. She took after her mother and loved to go to garage sales. She also loved being outside and working in the yard on her flower beds and frog ponds.
Due to cancer, she lost her leg and had to depend on a scooter or wheelchair to get around, but that didn’t slow her down. She would let her grandkids ride with her and honk the horn.
She was preceded in death by her parents Donald Arch Bailey, Sr. and Thelma May (Pittman) Bailey; daughter Kim Cox; brother Donald Bailey, Jr. and sister Judy Morrell.
Survivors include her husband Cotton Dorer of the home; daughters Tammy May Chandler and husband William; Shelly Cramer; grandchildren Eric Chandler, Keegun Laymance and wife Maranda, Coby Chandler, Taylor Love, Kailee Denton and husband Branden, Kelcee Ortega and husband CJ, Jadley Cox, Jaden Hightower and husband Chase, Makenzee Cox and Brenden Hammock; sisters Donna K Garner and husband Bear, Freda Skaggs and husband Randy; best friend Mary Page; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Brock Baptist Church at 3611 Brock Rd. Ardmore, Oklahoma with Pastor Randy Wade officiating. Family will be gathering at the church at 11:00AM.
