Obituary for Betty Sue Black (Simpson)

Betty Sue (Simpson) Black of Caddo, Oklahoma passed from this life on Thursday, April 11, 2024 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 71. She was born on Friday, October 3, 1952 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Berry Eligah Simpson and Geraldine Muriel (Dana) Simpson.

Betty graduated from Sequoyah Indian High School, Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was a longtime resident of Bryan County and was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation.

She enjoyed sewing, working outside, watching westerns, and going to the casino. She especially loved being around her grandchildren, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Berry Eligah Simpson and Geraldine Muriel (Dana) Simpson; daughter Connie Hensley; brothers Jimmy Ray LeFlore, Aaron Lynn Allen, Charles Wayne Allen, and sister Aaronette Allen.

Survivors include her daughter Janet Jamison of Caddo, Oklahoma; son Derek Stonebarger of Texas; brothers Clay Simpson of Atoka, Oklahoma, Vester Allen of Kansas; sisters Kathleen Hosler of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Berdie Williams and husband Jim of Durant, Oklahoma, Diana Child and husband Larry of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Maria Horton of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; grandchildren Zachary Jamison of Caney, Oklahoma, Austin Jamison of Caddo, Oklahoma as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and friends.

A family visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00PM on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Gordon Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Gordon Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma with Bobby Kay Rinehart officiating. A graveside service will follow at Old Philadelphia Cemetery in Bokchito, Oklahoma. Bobby Thomas, Dillon Duer, Bill Keys, Austin Jamison, Bryan Rinehart, Brandon Duer will serve as pallbearers.
