Obituary for Dwain Petty
Dwain Petty of Plano, Texas passed from this life on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at the age of 75. He was born on Friday, January 30, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to Monard Marcelous and Mildred Gwendolyn (Hoard) Petty.
He was longtime resident of the Dallas, Texas area. He married Donna Lou (Arnold) Petty on May 25, 1968 at Rolling Hills Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. He served in the Army National Guard from August 1970 to 1976. He was also the proud founder of Dwain Petty Staples and Nails, along with his son for over 40 years.
He enjoyed working, along with gospel music. He was a member of the New Plainsmen gospel quartet among many other groups his whole life.
He was preceded in death by his parents Monard Marcelous and Mildred Gwendolyn (Hoard) Petty.
Survivors include his wife Donna Lou (Arnold) Petty of Plano, Texas; son Don Petty and daughter-in-love Sandi Petty of Lucas, Texas; granddaughters Kristen Petty of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Courtney Bridges and grandson-in-love Doug Bridges of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as well as other extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, November 3, 2023 at the Hayes Building of Lavon Drive Baptist Church in Garland, Texas with Bro. John McCartt officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3:00PM at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
