Obituary for Edith M. Fish

Edith M. Fish, of Davis, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at the age of 96. She was born on Saturday, January 19, 1924 in Waxahachie, Texas to Roy Elgin and May (Kelly) Rudd.

Her family moved to Kingston, Oklahoma in 1925 and then to the Davis, Oklahoma area in 1932. She graduated from Davis High School in 1943. She married Riley Bailey, Sr. in 1943 and later after his passing she married Otis Fish from Idabel, Oklahoma. Mrs. Fish worked 22 years at the Sugg Clinic and the Valley View Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma. After retiring, she worked at Bailey Funeral Chapel in Ada, Oklahoma and also as an activity director at Jan Frances Care Center. She was member of the 1st Methodist Church in Davis, Oklahoma. She was very active in her church, the VFW, American Legion Aux., Red Hat Society, Eastern Star and PTA and many community affairs. She was lovingly known as “Momaw” and Grandmother to her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for family, gardening, traveling, singing, helping others and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed making biscuits and gravy for the grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband Riley William Bailey, Sr. in 1969; 2nd husband O.W. Fish in 2002; 4 brothers, 1 sister and 2 infant great-grandchildren Kaylee and Zachary Miller.

Survivors include her sons Bill Bailey and wife Debra of Ada, Oklahoma, Bob Bailey and wife Suzanne of Durant, Oklahoma; grandsons Matt Bailey and wife Melissa of Little Elm, Texas, Riley Bailey III and wife Shelley of Ada, Oklahoma, Chris Ely of Ada, Oklahoma; granddaughters Tara Morgan Jensen and husband Michael of Calera, Oklahoma, Heather Beam and husband Kevin of Ada, Oklahoma, Lori Ely of Ada, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren include Hayden Blake Bailey, Scarlett Jensen, Henley Jensen, Jasiah Brown, Garrett Beam and wife Kaylee, Gage Beam, Evie Bailey, Carter Ely, Brittney Ely, Shaylnne Ely; special sister-in-law Virginia Rudd of Davis, Oklahoma as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A family hour will be held from 6:00-7:00PM, Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Gordon Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, October 23, 2020 at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis, Oklahoma. Tara Jensen, Michael Jensen, Hayden Bailey, Garrett Beam, Gage Beam, Heather Beam, Kevin Beam, Matt Bailey and Riley Bailey will serve as pallbearers.
