Gene Karr, of Bromide, Oklahoma passed from this life on Friday, December 10, 2021 at the age of 62 due to complications from an accident. He was born on Monday, April 6, 1959 in Fontana, California to Marvin Leon and Yvonne Arlene (Carter) Karr.
He married the love of his life, Linda June Denton on July 2, 1984 in Carson City, Nevada. Together they built a beautiful life and family full of love and laughter.
He was a longtime resident of Bryan and Johnston Counties. He enjoyed cooking, fishing and hunting especially when his family could join him. He loved teaching his Grandson how to fix things, fish and ride the tractor. He was the Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department in Bromide, Oklahoma. He had a love and passion for his communities and helped selflessly and endlessly. He was active in the Durant Boy Scouts Troop #615 for many years, he loved his scouts and watching them grow and succeed. He got his dream job as the Camp Ranger at Camp Simpson and has been serving the scouts there for 17 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 9 years where he met many lifelong friends and was so proud to have served his country.
He was preceded in death by his father Marvin Leon Karr and brother Richard Karr.
Survivors include his wife Linda of the home; son John Karr and wife Angela of Bixby, Oklahoma; daughter Rachel Fisher and husband Thomas and Grandson Murphy of Bromide Oklahoma; brothers Robert Karr and wife Linda of Bethany, Oklahoma, Gary Karr and wife Lynette of Mead, Oklahoma; mother Yvonne Karr of Mead, Oklahoma as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM, Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the Camp Simpson Carlock Lodge in Bromide, Oklahoma with Bill Baker and Jarvis Whatley officiating.
Donations may be made to Arbuckle Area Council specifically for Camp Simpson.
