George William Capes of Durant, Oklahoma passed from this life on Monday, April 5, 2024, at the age of 72. He was born on Tuesday, October 9, 1951 in Cotton Center, Texas to William Perry and Gracie Mae Leona (Howard) Capes.

He was a longtime resident of Durant, Oklahoma and married Linda Marie (Stephens) Capes on September 5, 1984 in Durant, Oklahoma. He enjoyed fishing, working, and driving trucks.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Perry and Gracie Mae Leona (Howard) Capes; grandparents; three brothers; four sisters and numerous aunts and uncles.

Survivors include wife Linda Marie Capes of Durant, Oklahoma; brothers James W. Capes of Durant, Oklahoma, Kenny Tucker of Mead, Oklahoma, Billy Capes of Durant, Oklahoma, Jerry Laney of Durant, Oklahoma; sisters Norma Hardy of Durant, Oklahoma, June Horton of Mead, Oklahoma; sons Michael Sewell of Pottsboro, Texas, Jessie Capes of Texas, George Capes, Jr. of Montana, Justin Capes of Montana; daughters Melissa Wilson of Durant, Oklahoma, Sandy Chaney of Durant, Oklahoma, Michelle Capes of Texas; 22 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at the Compassion Outreach Church in Calera, Oklahoma with Bro. David Ervin officiating.
