Obituary for James Thomas "Jimmy" Ham

James “Jimmy” Thomas Ham, of Durant, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Monday, March 16, 2020 at the age of 64. He was born on Saturday, December 17, 1955 in Ledville, Colorado to James Edmond and Mara Nell (Hicks) Ham.

He married Silvia Ham in Laaber, Germany and was married for 33 years.

Jimmy was a longtime resident of Caddo, Durant and Germany. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and family gatherings. He was a member of the U.S. Army from 1974-1996. He was a member of the Card Club for Retired Soldiers in Germany. He was of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his father James E. Ham; sister Carol Ham; foster parents Olen and Therese Miller; foster brothers John and David Miller; foster sister Carolyn Miller.

Survivors include his wife Silvia Ham of Duggendorf, Germany; mother Mara Nell Sheffield of Colbert, Oklahoma; step-mother Earla Ham of Canon City, Colorado; foster brothers Daniel Miller, Patrick Miller, James A. Miller, Matthew Miller, Olen Miller, Jr.; sisters Kay Haering, Lillie Torbit; foster sister Marilyn Miller of Durant, Oklahoma; aunts and uncles Geary Hicks, Sam Ham of Durant, Oklahoma, Martha Grant of Visalia, California, Betty Ham of Durant, Oklahoma, Sherry Ham of Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma, Curtis and Patsy Hicks of Caddo, Oklahoma, Travis and Mary Hicks of Durant, Oklahoma, Maxine Rogers of Calera, Oklahoma, Mary Nell Tucker of Durant, Oklahoma, Ann Hicks of Muskogee, Oklahoma; father-in-law Georg Peter; brother Will Ham; brothers and sisters-in-law Kurt and Doris Schmidle, Joseph and Sandra Mirwald and Siglenda Beck all of Germany; nieces Sabine and Tamara of Germany, Misty, Mikayla, Vanessa Dorwart of Pa, Rachel Disilvestri, Alex Damiano of Oklahoma and Kayla of Texas as well as 2 grandchildren and other extended family.

A memorial service mass will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the St. Williams Catholic Church with Father Carl officiating. A graveside service will follow at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma with a flag presentation to honor his many years of military service.
