Obituary for Janice E. Lehman (Hird)
Janice E. (Hird) Lehman of Mead, Oklahoma passed from this life on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at the age of 73. She was born on Sunday, December 4, 1949 in Kearney, Nebraska to Raymond Lewis and Bessie Irene (Girtman) Hird.
She grew up in Kearney, Nebraska and moved to Texas in 1981, where she lived and raised her children. She later moved back to Kearney, Nebraska for a few years before moving back to Texas for good.
She loved bird watching, art and watching her favorite tv shows. She enjoyed spending time with her family, most of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. To her family and friends she was a bright, kind and generous person. She was a great listener and a great comfort to those who loved her. To her children, she was their world. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond Lewis and Bessie Irene (Girtman) Hird of Kearney, Nebraska; brother Allen Hird of Minden, Nebraska; nephews Jeremy Haussermann of Kearney, Nebraska and Eric Haussermann of Kearney, Nebraska.
Survivors include her children Stacy Estes and husband Joe of Mead, Oklahoma, Shawn Thames of Minden Nebraska, Karna Brittain and husband Marc of Durant, Oklahoma, Dana Wood formerly of Borger, Texas, Patrick Thames and wife Maria Thames of Omaha, Nebraska; sister Wanda Haussermann of Kearney, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 5 nephews; 2 nieces as well as other extended family and friends.
Service will be held at a later date and take place in Kearney, Nebraska. Burial will be at Prairie Center Cemetery in Kearney, Nebraska.
In lieu of flowers Janice asks that you all spend time with those you love and tell them often. Take that vacation and make memories that will last a lifetime. But most of all, leave with no regrets.
