Obituary for Mary Taylor
Mary Emma Taylor, of Durant, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Sunday, October 13, 2019 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 85. She was born on Friday, August 24, 1934 in Stone Fort, Illinois to Murel and Sarah (Lewis) Reynolds.
She married Guy Taylor on Saturday, April 12, 1952 in Marion, Illinois and they lived happily for the next sixty years until his passing.
In addition to being a great homemaker and raising three children, Mary was a very effective entrepreneur establishing a series of successful businesses in the child-care industry. She was very fashion oriented and spent many satisfying hours in her sewing room creating clothing and costumes for her family and friends. Mary was also a talented interior decorator transforming her residences into showplaces. One of Mary’s most distinguishing traits was her love of animals. She always found a place in her home for needy cats and dogs that were welcomed as members of the family.
She was preceded in rest by her husband Guy Taylor; son-in-law Rick Day; parents Murel and Sarah Reynolds; brothers Lowell and Elzia Reynolds and sister Trish Ann Rush.
Survivors include son Jack Taylor and wife Song of Vancouver, Washington; daughters Glenda Day and David Cook of Durant, Oklahoma, Kendra Moad and husband Bill of Caldwell, Idaho; brothers Glen Reynolds of Illinois, Robert Reynolds of Illinois; sisters Linda Dewbery of Bomide, Oklahoma, Shirley Johnson and husband Larry of Illinois; granddaughters Janelle Matthews and husband Wesley of Korea, Victoria Yarbrough and husband Dalton of Oklahoma; grandson Clayton Day and Kayla Holt of Durant, Oklahoma; great grandsons Parker Day, David Matthews, Daxton Yarbrough and great granddaughters Elizabeth Matthews, Malorie Day, Chloe Yarbrough and Emerson Bryan.
A family hour will be held from 6:00-7:00 PM Monday, October 14, 2019 at Gordon Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be at 1:00PM Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the Highland Cemetery pavilion.
