Obituary for Oscar R. McBride

Oscar R. McBride, of Durant, Oklahoma passed from this life on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the age of 90. He was born on Saturday, January 24, 1931 in Sulphur, Oklahoma to James Albert and Sarah Leona (Duke) McBride.

He married Mae Lopez on December 21, 1953 in Bakersfield, California.

He was a resident of Durant, Oklahoma, previously residing in Sulphur, Oklahoma and Austin, Texas. He enjoyed wood-working, building furniture, carpenter work, and tinkering. He also loved gardening, fishing, and mechanics. He was a mechanic in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Albert and Sarah Leona (Duke) McBride; wife Mae McBride, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

Survivors include his daughter Brenda Kay Brown and husband Bobby of Mead, Oklahoma; sons Dale McBride and wife Jamie of Waxahachie, Texas; Darrell McBride of Bokchito, Oklahoma; Larry McBride and wife Kathleen of Corvallis, Oregon; Jerry McBride of Durant, Oklahoma and brother Earl McBride and wife Patsy of Eufaula, Alabama; along with 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

A family hour will be held from 6:00-7:00PM, Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Gordon Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, January 14, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Calera, Oklahoma with Bro. Jacob Toews officiating. Shannon McBride, Cliff Varner, Mike Turner, Andrew Dollar, Michael Reed and Bobby Brown will serve as pallbearers. Graveside services will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera, Oklahoma. The Patriot Guard will be presenting military honors.
