Obituary for Sara Joines
Sara Joines, of Denison, Texas, passed from this life on Thursday, March 25, 2020 at the age of 84. She was born on Thursday, May 30, 1935 in Wister, Oklahoma to Oran Ray and Gladys Juanita (Armstrong) Pierce.
She married Orelly Joines on November 5, 1954 in McAlester, Oklahoma.
Sara was a longtime resident of Caddo and was very active in the Caddo Church of the Nazarene where she was a member. She was a teller at the First National Bank in Durant for 15 years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and crossword puzzles. Most of all she loved and adored spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Oran Ray and Gladys Juanita (Armstrong) Pierce, husband Orelly Joines and a brother David Lee Pierce.
Survivors include her daughter Christie Bliss and husband Mark of Pottsboro, Texas; son Kevin Joines and wife Lynda of Choctaw, Oklahoma; grandchildren Lindsay Joines of Durant, Oklahoma, Lucas Joines of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Adam Barnes and wife Caitlin of Roanoke, Texas, Ashley Barnes of Pottsboro, Texas, Alexandra Smith and husband Dillon of Sherman, Texas; great-grandchildren Emma Christian of Prosper, Texas, Haley Barnes and Gentry Barnes of Roanoke, Texas, Kinslee Smith and Daxtyn Smith of Sherman, Texas, Kinsler Vandevier of Durant, Oklahoma as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and family may come by the funeral home for viewing anytime from 12:00-5:00PM on Saturday and 12:00-5:00PM on Sunday. We will limit people in the building at one time and encourage distancing and no contact for the safety of all involved.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30AM, Monday, March 30, 2020 at Gordon Funeral Home and a graveside service to follow at the Caddo Gethsemane Cemetery with Bro. Clifford Joines officiating. Adam Barnes, Mark Bliss, Lucas Joines and Dillon Smith will serve as pallbearers.
The CDC has directed that the funeral service be limited to 10 family members. We encourage everyone to show their condolences to the family in a meaningful way other than attendance.
