Obituary for Stacey "Big Chief" Pair
Stacey “Big Chief” Pair, of Armstrong, Oklahoma passed from this life on Friday, October 22, 2021 at the age of 50 to covid complications. He was born on Monday, March 15, 1971 in Durant, Oklahoma to Johnny Weldon and Barbara Sue (Presley) Pair.
Stacey married Sherry Smith on February 17, 1993 in Durant, Oklahoma. They had 4 children; Slader, Sabastian, Stacia and Shoshauna. He later met Tammie Kay Gross and they were married on February 18, 2015 in Durant, Oklahoma.
He was a resident of Armstrong, Oklahoma He grew up in Durant, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Choctaw Nation and was proud of his Choctaw and Chickasaw heritage. Stacey and Tammie opened STP Automotive in September of 2015 and renamed it Big Chief Auto in 2017. In 2020 they opened up Stacey’s dream job, Big Chief’s Auto and Salvage. He was a mechanic by trade and worked for R&D Salvage in the 90’s and previously for the Choctaw Nation. He was a member of the Victory Tabernacle Church in Durant, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents Johnny Weldon and Barbara Pair; brothers Mark Pair, Weldon Pair; sister Johna Pair; grandmother Rosie Pair and father-in-law Marvin Gross.
Survivors include his wife Tammie of the home; sons Slader Pair of Enid, Oklahoma, Sabastian Pair of Enid, Oklahoma; daughters Shoshauna Pair of Enid, Oklahoma, Stacia Pair of Enid, Oklahoma, Destiny Rogers of Big Spring, Texas, Meagen Rogers of Caddo, Oklahoma; step-daughters Kari Gross and boyfriend Joseph Dunlap, Baylea Gross; sisters Loucinda French and husband Homer of Mead, Oklahoma, Tina Taylor and husband Steve of Durant, Oklahoma; brother-in-law Marvin Gross and wife Liz of Big Spring, Texas; sisters-in-law Betsy Stinson and husband Josh of Yantis, Texas, Katie Gross of Big Spring, Texas; mother-in-law Betty Gross of Big Spring, Texas; grandsons Xavior Pair and Sulphur Ned as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
A family hour will be held from 6:00-7:00PM, Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Gordon Funeral Home
A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Victory Tabernacle with Bor. Daniel Taylor and Doyle Wayne Pair officiating. Dale Pair, Dale Wayne Pair, Josh Weaver, Darrell Mayo, Bobby Gene Brewer, Cody Nail, Scott Burkett, Dustin Aldridge and Tom Hopkins will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Big Chief Auto and Salvage past and present.
The family wants to thank the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapist and staff at Texoma Medical Center for the special care they gave to Stacey during his illness.
