Obituary for Vernon Dale Wagoner
Vernon “Dale” Wagoner of Durant, Oklahoma passed from this life on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at the age of 76. He was born on Wednesday, August 20, 1947 in Durant, Oklahoma to Ray and Grace (Grider) Wagoner.
He was longtime resident Durant, Oklahoma. He married the love of his life Anita Jane Wagoner on August 16, 1969 in Hugo, Oklahoma. He proudly served in the National Guard and the Army. He worked as a used car dealer.
He enjoyed going to the casino, traveling and going on outings with his family. He had a special talent of talking to people. He was one to never meet a stranger and always asked others “who’s your family?”
He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Grace (Grider) Wagoner; wife Anita Jane Wagoner; sister Mary Cranford; brothers Harold Wagoner and David Wagoner.
Survivors include his brother Eddie Wagoner and wife Linda of Durant, Oklahoma; children Michael Wagoner of Durant, Oklahoma, Gina Wagoner of Durant, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law Dawn Wagoner of Durant, Oklahoma; granddaughters Jessica Damron of Durant, Oklahoma, Hayley Crisp of Durant, Oklahoma; great grandchildren Karleigh Damron, Rylan Damron, Liam Crisp as well as other extended family and friends.
A family visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00PM on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Gordon Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Gordon Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma with Bro. Jeremy Parham officiating. A graveside service will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma. Wayne Henderson, Lawerence Johansen, Brian Gray, Allen Stephens, Micheal Laymon, Caleb Kelley and Tyler Wagoner will serve as pallbearers.
