Obituary for Vickie Manners
Vickie Manners of Durant, Oklahoma passed from this life on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the age of 85. She was born on Sunday, July 24, 1938 in Bokchito, Oklahoma to Henderson Melton and Ollie (Crawford) Turner.
She was a longtime resident of Durant, Oklahoma and a member of the Compassion Outreach Church.
She enjoyed watching wrestling, Ricochet was her favorite wrestler, and tending to her chickens and ducks. She also enjoyed plants and gardening and with her green thumb she could bring any plant back to life. She loved to spend time with her family and would dote over her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Henderson Melton and Ollie (Crawford) Turner; husband Johnny Manners, Sr.; brother Willie Lee Turner; sisters Rosie Melott, Polly Cooper, Lillie Manners, and Shirley Glover.
Survivors include her son Johnny Manners, Jr. and wife Kim of Durant, Oklahoma; granddaughters Autum Manners of Durant, Oklahoma, Peggy Harris of Durant, Oklahoma; sister Betty Lou Earley of Kingston, Oklahoma as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
A family visitation will be held from 7:00 – 9:00PM on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Gordon Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Compassion Outreach Church, 300 E Washington Ave. Calera, Oklahoma with Bro. David Ervin and Bro. Ray Earley officiating. A graveside service will follow at Mead Cemetery in Mead, Oklahoma. Sam Cisneros, Russell Horn, Jerry Tomlinson, Mike Ritter, Dustin Taylor and Bobby Reeves McCarty will serve as pallbearers.
