Obituary for Wallace Lee Riddle

Wallace Lee Riddle, age 91 of Durant, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday morning, January 14, 2022 at his home in Durant with loving family by his side.

Wallace was born on November 28, 1930, to H.L. and Georgie Riddle, in Durant, Oklahoma. He graduated from Durant High School in the class of 1948. After graduation, he served front line active duty in the Korean conflict. He was proud of his service and always respected the military and the United States flag. On June 9, 1967 he married Rosemary Highfill.

Wallace worked in the used car business for many years. He was passionate about horse racing and enjoyed the family outing for the Kentucky Derby every year. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Durant for forty-eight years, having been named Lifetime Deacon after serving the church for a year and a half. He loved the Church. Wallace treasured being a father and grandfather. He loved being called “Dad”, “Grandpa” and uniquely called “Goater” by his grandson, Bo.

Wallace was preceded in death by his parents H.L and Georgie Riddle; in-laws O.W. and Bobbie Highfill; daughter Merry Annette Carter; son Jason Lee Riddle and sister Lorene Butler.

His survivors include his wife Rosemary; daughter Kay Silver; sons Terry Riddle and wife Etoya and Lee Riddle and wife Heather; grandchildren Austin Riddle, Bo Riddle, David Buchanan and wife Melissa, Stacie Turner and husband James, Lindsey Riddle and Coby Riddle; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his brother Jess Riddle and wife Leah; numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend Bill Elliott.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30AM, Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the First Christian Church in Durant, Oklahoma with Bro Skip Robinson officiating. A graveside service will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant. Gary Hammel, Truman Smith, Mike Smith, Tad Kirkpatrick, Scott Lowrance and Jeff Skaggs will serve as pallbearers.
